Aluminum alloy sliding windows, which one has better airtightness performance, the side pressure type or the lifting type?

The airtightness of side-pressure aluminum alloy sliding windows is usually better than that of lifting ones. Through the design of lateral translation and compression of the rubber strip, it can achieve a sealing effect similar to that of casement windows. However, the lifting ones have natural shortcomings in the design of the hook and top seal, resulting in slightly inferior overall airtightness. The following is a specific analysis of the two:

The airtightness of side-pressure aluminum alloy sliding windows is usually better than that of lifting ones. However, the lifting ones have natural shortcomings in the design of the hook and top seal, resulting in slightly inferior overall airtightness. The following is a specific analysis of the two:

Airtightness characteristics of side-pressure sliding windows
Sealing principle: Side-pressure sliding windows achieve lateral translation of the sash through the hardware system. When closing, the sash will be pressed to one side, so that the sealing strips around the sash are fully squeezed to form a sealing effect similar to that of casement windows. This design can effectively reduce the gap between the sash and the window frame and improve airtightness.
Hardware system: The hardware system of side-pressure sliding windows usually adopts a multi-point locking design, such as a four-point sealing locking system, which can ensure that the sash is evenly stressed when closed, further enhancing the sealing performance.
Actual case: Some high-end side-pressure sliding window products, such as CMECH side-pressure airtight window hardware system, have improved the wind pressure resistance and sealing performance of the window sash through innovative designs, such as the large bearing design of the upper pulley and the double guide bearing horizontal wheel design of the lower pulley, and can achieve the same sealing effect as the casement window.
Airtightness characteristics of lifting sliding windows
Sealing principle: The lifting sliding window drives the hardware system through the handle to achieve the lifting and sealing of the window sash. When closed, the window sash will be lifted up and fit in the window frame, forming a certain sealing effect. However, since the window sash of the lifting sliding window needs to overcome gravity during the lifting process, and the sealing design of the hook (i.e. the intersection of the two window sashes) is relatively complex, its sealing performance may be affected to a certain extent.
Potential problems: The lifting sliding window may have natural shortcomings in the hook and top sealing design. For example, the sealing strip at the hook may not be fully compressed due to the lifting of the window sash, resulting in air leakage; the top sealing design may also affect the air tightness due to the gap between the window sash and the window frame.
Actual case: Although some high-end lifting sliding window products can improve the sealing performance to a certain extent through optimized design and the use of high-quality hardware systems, overall, their air tightness may still be slightly inferior to that of side pressure sliding windows.
